I Survived
Well, today I started a new morning routine at the health club in our town. I get up around 5:30 a.m. and shuffle off to the club and have a 30+ minute workout. Mostly cardio right now - but plan on doing some weight training and lap swimming too - to give some variety if for nothing else. Then I cool down and have a quiet time in the corner of the lounge area. Then it's back home for a shower and breakfast and out the door for work.
So - today was my first day. I didn't stroke out or even get that winded (I just used the treadmill) as I listened to Rush's greatest hits. Hopefully I won't pay for it too much - it has been a few months since doing any regular exercise.

Woo hoo!! I'm very proud of you!! :)
I'm off to the water exercise and I'm so glad we're all doing this...as a guy, you will surpass us in no time, with less effort ...that seems really unfair the way God made men's metabolisms, but I'm happy for you, Eric, and hope you'll feel the benefits immediately! ox mil'e
Eric - good luck and stick with it. It will make a world of difference in how much you enjoy the activities you do with the boys. Keep your eye on the big picture and that will help.
Of course looking at a big picture of me always helps too. Me - not you I mean. It helps me. A picture of me helps me. I guess I could send you a picture of me but you thinking, "I don't want to look like that anymore, might not have the same mental effect for you as it does for me."
LOL - Perri I get what you mean! Thanks for the encouragement.
hey bro- i am supposed to be doing this health challenge with mitch but i haven't been faithful .... would you like to join us...the concept is real easy, we pick a target that we want to reach at the end of eight months if we reach it we reward ourselves probably collectively...but we break it up into small steps either weekly or monthly and if we meet those small steps as well we get to reward ourselves...what do you think?
I just wanted to take the time to encourage you!
My hubby is a gym rat (LOL) and I understand how you are feeling hearing him speak of the gym, etc...
keep it up, it takes time to get things in order...dont give up!
God bless,
Kim

AWESOME!! This is so cool! I am looking forward to seeing more posts about how it is going. I miss being able to walk - it really makes a difference in my mood for the day. Do you notice the difference? It seems to jump start something that just makes it all good. I'm glad your feeling good and doing this. Kevin is going to be happy to hear about it too! Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, Beth
Keep up the good work! It's not always easy, but the benefits are worth it. I am working hard on my health as I am 40 with 3 kids 5yo and under and I hope the Lord will allow me to live to see them grow up. :o) When you want to give up, remember "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" Now I know theologically Paul wasn't talking about the gym, but I think you get the point. I'm proud of you and Amy. I hope I get to meet you and the boys some day. Amy has been a great encouragement and blessing to me.
Thanks Beth and Theresa! I appreciate the encouragement. Working out in the health club is actually fairly enjoyable. Getting up and out the door at 5:30 a.m. is the hardest part! Thanks again.
